What to Do After a Hailstorm in DFW

Hail is part of life in North Texas. Here's the checklist I give every homeowner after a storm rolls through Forney, Rockwall or anywhere in the Metroplex.

1. Stay safe and stay off the roof

Never climb onto a wet or damaged roof. Look for obvious problems from the ground: dented gutters, damaged window screens, shingle pieces in the yard or water spots on ceilings.

2. Document what you can see

Take dated photos of hail on the ground, dents on cars, gutters and outdoor furniture. Collateral damage helps show a storm actually hit your property.

3. Get a Roof Protection Inspection

Most hail damage isn't visible from the ground. Our free Roof Protection Inspection includes a Roof Protection Report with photos you can use to support an insurance claim.

4. Know your policy's deadlines

Texas policies often have time limits for filing storm claims. Review your policy or call your agent so you don't miss your window. Not if, but when — be prepared.

Be prepared before the storm.

Every inspection includes a free Roof Protection Report — documentation you can use if you ever need to file an insurance claim.
